Having failed to bring their Granddads' cars' to the UK, Karl Ohiri and Sayed Sattar Hasan contemplate how to resolve their personal narratives, while expressing the support they have given one another through their experiences so far.

Side By Side, reflects the artists original aim of parking their granddads’ cars’ next to each other. Ohiri and Hasan fill the empty space pronounced by the absence of the cars in a gesture of togetherness.

By holding hands, they cross a dividing line that otherwise keeps them apart. It further supports the intention of their collaboration, which is to make an artistic statement that challenges conventional notions of identity, by joining narratives that are influenced by multiple ethnic, cultural, and historical reference points.
